We offer standard self storage: clean, dry and secure units, most of them purpose-built inside our buildings, rather than climate-controlled units. If you have something temperature-sensitive, give us a call or email us and we’ll talk through the best storage solution for you.
What standard storage means for your things
Our units aren’t heated or cooled, so the temperature inside follows the seasons to some degree. For most household belongings that’s no problem. What matters far more is keeping damp out, and the way you pack makes the biggest difference:
- pack everything clean and completely dry, and never store anything that’s still damp;
- lift things off the floor and leave a small gap at the walls, so air can move;
- use breathable covers, such as blankets or dust sheets, rather than sealing furniture in plastic;
- drain and dry anything that holds water, such as a washing machine or a fridge.
Our guide to whether storage units get cold in winter or hot in summer goes into more detail.
Why heaters stay at home
To keep everyone’s belongings safe from fire, portable heaters can’t be used in units, and units have no power sockets, so nothing is ever left running. Dry packing does the job instead.
Containers
At Chipping Norton, Shipston-on-Stour and Warminster we also have outdoor steel containers for container storage. At Chipping Norton and Shipston-on-Stour we insulate our containers to stop condensation. If you’re weighing up a container against an indoor unit for something sensitive, ask us and we’ll help you choose.
Storing something special?
