A 100 sq ft unit is one of our most useful sizes: packed well, it can hold the furniture and boxes from a flat, or from a modestly furnished house with two or three bedrooms. Exactly how far it stretches depends on how much you’re keeping, so the quickest way to be sure is to tell us what you’re storing and let our team suggest the right size.
What decides whether it’s enough
Two homes with the same number of bedrooms can fill very different amounts of space. A few things make the biggest difference:
- the large furniture, such as sofas, wardrobes, beds, dining tables and appliances;
- the loft, shed and garage, which are easy to forget when you think in bedrooms;
- whether you’re storing everything, or only what won’t fit in your next home;
- how well it’s packed: boxes of a similar size stack neatly, and furniture taken apart takes up less room.
How to check before you book
- List your furniture and larger items, room by room, including the loft and garage.
- Estimate how many boxes you’ll have.
- Measure anything long or tall, such as a sofa, wardrobe or bookcase, and include its height.
- Send the list to hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk, or call us on 0800 2545585, and we’ll suggest a size.
If you’ll be visiting often, leave a little room for a walkway, so you can reach things at the back without unpacking the front.
If it turns out too small, or too big
You’re not locked into your first choice. If your needs change once you’ve moved in, we can move you to a bigger or smaller unit at your site when one’s free. Not every size appears in our online quote, so if the size you need isn’t showing, just ask.
Our room-by-room size guide has more ideas, and our 100 sq ft and 150 sq ft comparison shows what fits in each.
