Most business stock is welcome in a Wigwam business storage unit: boxed products, packaging, empty jars and bottles, labels, display kit and equipment can all go in. What has to stay out is anything flammable or pressurised, which means aerosols of every kind and flammable liquids such as solvents, paint and fuel. For candles and wax melts, tell us what you make before you book and we’ll confirm.
Why we’re firm about it
Units sit side by side, so keeping anything that could catch fire or leak out of every unit protects everyone’s stock, yours included. Every customer agrees to the same rules, so the unit next to yours is held to the same standard as your own.
A quick guide for sellers and makers
| Stock | Can it go in? |
|---|---|
| Empty jars, tins, bottles, lids, labels, boxes and packaging | Yes |
| Aerosols, such as deodorant, hairspray, dry shampoo, room spray, spray paint and spray adhesive | No, whatever the label says: even a can with no flame symbol is a pressurised can of gas |
| Lighter refills, gas canisters and fuel | No, and fuel cans stay out even when empty |
| Bulk fragrance or essential oils for candle or soap making | No |
| Fireworks and sparklers | No |
| Perfume, nail polish and remover, reed diffusers, hand gel, pump sprays | Check the label: with the flame symbol (a flame inside a red-edged diamond), no; without it, ask us first |
| Finished candles and wax melts | Ask us first, and tell us whether they’re scented, roughly how many you have and how they’re packed |
Strongly scented stock is worth a quick call too, because nothing that gives off fumes or odours can be stored, and smells can travel between units. If you sell vapes or e-liquids, our guide to storing vape and e-liquid stock covers which items can go in.
Salons, beauty and events
Chairs, trolleys, dryers, towels, mirrors, props and hire kit are all fine. Hair dye, developer and lightening products may count as chemicals, so check with us before they go in. Power banks can’t be stored, and spare lithium batteries have their own limits, which our e-bike and battery guide explains.
Not sure about something?
Email the product name or a photo of the label to hello@wigwamstorage.co.uk and we’ll tell you before moving day, so you only load the van once. You can also list your stock when you get a price online, or call us on 0800 2545585.
