What membership means for you
SSA UK has a Membership Standard which, in SSA’s words, is “designed to ensure the safety and security of self storage facilities and the responsible conduct of those operating them”. It covers the things that matter when you hand over your belongings: the buildings and units, security, how sites are run, contracts and consumer protection, how customers are looked after, and insurance.
SSA says its standard requires a site to have CCTV monitoring, a secure perimeter and to meet fire and safety regulations. That’s how we run our sites. A professional monitoring company watches our CCTV around the clock, our sites have a secure perimeter and meet fire and safety regulations, the external doors have access control, and every unit has its own alarm.
We also take part in SSA’s Tick Box campaign, a code of practice that SSA describes as “simple procedures aimed at preventing the fraudulent storage of counterfeit and other illicit or unsafe goods”. It’s one of the reasons we ask for photo ID when you book: we like to know who is storing alongside you.
SSA encourages customers to “look out for our logo”, and you’ll see it on our website.
How to find us in SSA’s directory
- Go to ssauk.com and use the Storage Site Directory on the home page.
- Enter the postcode or town of the Wigwam site you’re interested in.
- Look for “Wigwam Self Storage”. The results show ten sites at a time, so press “Load more” if the list is longer.
You’ll find us near Chipping Norton, Bath and Dorking, for example. If you’d like to talk about a particular site, just give us a call.
Membership and your belongings
